For posterity, for fanflix.com -- detailed analysis of the three vids I found this week.

First: Love a Woman and Leaving Song were posted on October 26, 2003. The dates on the WMV versions of these vids are before that; will give benefit of the doubt that these were, indeed, created before all this started. Had they indeed been created between October 18th and October 26th, that, I think, would be far worse than merely not saying "Oh! Yeah, I have these OTHER vids, that I stole gratuitously from you to make. I'll be sure they don't get posted!"

The one thing I'll say? At least she made a half-assed attempt at the beginning to get the clips to match the music. That stopped somewhere through. Despite the fact that the footage for her LotR and HP vids are at least half-mine, the vids are actually quite painful to sit through as she uses the same edits in most of her vids (I know I use the same clips, but not the same EDITS!), and largely, the clips just don't match the music or lyrics. Agh.

First note -- my source was remixed for the Aragorn/Arwen clips between 1:29 and 1:39 for "Love A Woman". But is obviously my source, that I spent time and money to rip. Would have gladly sent it, had I been asked, but I wasn't.

and second note: the poor-quality footage was most likely taken from my earliest work, as evidenced with Primal Eyes (right-click to download; this vid is not zipped). This footage starts at 0:00 and runs to 0:22, and over and over through this vid, and will not be documented, as Primal Eyes is the only one I have available online; the rest are not even on my computer and I shouldn't have to go searching for them.

Third note: These three vids are all about Aragorn. I used the same footage (though not editing) in all of them; points where I could not say for certain which vid clips were taken from, I have merely noted that it is source from any one of the three vids.

You rock. A lot. I appreciate this; I get angry and vent, but I just find myself at an absolute loss of words when it comes down to actually doing the fighting. Plus right now it is very difficult to keep up as I am at college and away from my own computer from 6:00am until 4:00pm Thursdays and Fridays *G*

I just wanted to say that you have every right to be furious about this. Your creative work belongs to you, nobody else, and it is not diminished by the idiocy of jealous, attention-hungry idiots who lack the smallest bit of self-respect or talent. Thanks for letting everyone know what happened, and don't let it discourage you from vidding or sharing your vids.

Thank you! I appreciate this. nigellus/Desiree's has this seeming attitude that she's some victim, when she's been horribly irresponsibile about all of this -- creating vids after all this came out that still use my edits, keeping quite quiet about the fact that at least two of her other (older) vids use my edits, and then there is at least one other vid that uses another vidder's stuff.

I haven't been discouraged from vidding; I will always vid. I've been looking into other options though -- I have started watermarking my newest vids (can't do my old ones, as I re-ripped my source, so my original working files no longer work, and the mpegs aren't taking the watermark well). I don't know if my host will allow me to password protect my site, and I have also considered only showing my vids in friendslocked posts here -- but that means that I lot of people, who have previously enjoyed them, may not be able to. I don't believe that fan artists, of any type, should have to hide from each other like that, and I know a lot of people won't actually e-mail and ask for passwords, or get a LiveJournal. I make the vids for me, but I share them because I know how many vid fans there are out there (seeing as I love watching them myself -- this is, naturally, how I found Desiree's vids).

Anyway. I'm rambling and babbling now. Shall stop *G*

Hey. You don't know me--I came here via sisabet and tzikeh and sockkpuppett and ... the usual suspects. :)

I just wanted to express my sympathy for the whole appalling offensive mess, including Desiree's insane troll logic, and to say I'm very glad that you haven't been discouraged from vidding or from online distribution of vids. I don't vid, but I greatly enjoy watching them -- and I know I never would have started if vidders hadn't been generous enough to share their work online. The way you've handled the whole thing has been great.

Don't worry about responding to this -- I know you must have a ton of comments to catch up on.
