Well, apparently I'm just not going to be allowed to host my vids at my website anymore.

Fuck. So, yes, I've taken the WMV version down and am sitting here thinking -- Shit, what am I going to do? Because I paid for a year at my host back in October, and, being unemployed, I dunno if I can afford to get a new host.

Bloody fucking hell. Wankers. It couldn't have possibly been downloaded that many times in just a few hours. Yeah, I'm annoyed. *flails*

So, anyhow, for right now, only the DivX AVI version of the vid is available via YSI.

Sorry, folks. :(

*facepalm*

Murph's Place, a big ol' Russell Crowe website, linked to Drawn to the Rhythm yesterday. Specifically, to the Gladiator and M&C vids.

Got a lot of interest from visitors! So much so that my host has, in fact, shut down the vids section of my site completely. :-/ They've done this to me once before; they give me a warning that their server is not intended to "download large files", bah.

I'm one of those silly people who does leave the computer on, and seeing as it's in my room, I got on to check my mail after going to the loo, heh. I know I'm not alone in doing this -- I simply can't be. ;) Anywhoo, I can start the process to switch all the vids into a new folder now, but it'll take a long while as there are a lot of vids, and I do have to go in to work later on today.

Argh. Just... argh.

I just paid for another year with them, too. Dammit. Of course, I've been with them for going on three years now, and this is only the second time it's happened. Massive influx of traffic from something high-profile. Still... annoying to have everything shut down, and not be able to stick around properly to fix it. Bloody hell.

Folder suggestion names, anybody? *g* I've used "vids" and "media" before. Am at a loss what to call 'em this time 'round.

And now I'm going to go back to bed before I get to the point where I'm 100% awake and can't sleep anymore at all!

Have setup an account with a new host. A few extra dollars a month, 700 more MB of webspace. Imagine all the pretty vids *G* Now I just need to wait until tomorrow before I can get myself set up again. Oh glorious day *G*

And I also need to wait for [livejournal.com profile] cruisedirector to show up somewhere so we can jointly post the smut we wrote last night. Mmm, smut. Is indeed a cure-all ;)

behind a cut because I'm sure nobody actually WANTS to read my angry website ranting )

In other news, do vidders look at songvids differently than fans of songvids? Is entirely possible that I'm actually more of a FAN than a vidder.

I've been reading some interesting discussion about song choice on the vidder mailing list, and some essays that has been linked to from there. Sarah McLachlan, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, are mentioned as being over-vidded. The vidders seem to find Sarah's music wince-worthy, over-vidded and whatnot.

I've only found a tiny little handful of vids to Sarah's music. Am I looking in the wrong places? Am I not looking at vids in the right fandoms? *g* Though that may be the case, as I am only involved in a few fandoms in any way: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (can anybody point me in the direction of good Pottervids? Anyone? Pleeease?) and Farscape. Have not gone looking for Buffy or Angel vids as I'm too terrified of running into really mainstream music choice considering the target audience is my age *g* And I have a tape of Due South vids that has one or two Sarah McLachlan vids, but come on, her music was used on the show a handful of times, how can that be helped? Heh. Anyway, yeah.

So basically what I'm saying is, do fans of vids look at them differently? Or do you all wince and say "Not another vid to this artist/that song!" and bypass it? Or will you watch it because, yay! It's that song/that artist! Or do you give anything a chance unless you honestly well and truly despise that song/this artist? I'm curious. Because I personally will give anything a try because... well, I'm that way! I love music, and I love my fandoms, and I'll eat up darn near anything.

Any thoughts?

My host is down again. What the fucking fuck? I am so sick of this. I'm THIS CLOSE to demanding a refund of what I paid for next year and moving my site elsewhere. If they're not back up tonight, I'm letting them HAVE IT. Because I know they were up this morning at 10:30.

In other news, this Harry Potter animation fucking rocks. NAKED TIME! WHEE!!

I introduce "... and far away", the web's newest Sharpe fansite.

I know that the splash page images don't quite match up to each other -- my DVD player was having some serious issues with the Sharpe DVDs and would just not take many nice screen captures. Waah. Otherwise I'm really quite happy with it.

To any web-designing Mac users... er, why don't my links work? I'm in the Mac lab at school, and I can enter the page, but none of the other links work. Grr, man. Grr. they work just fine with both Internet Explorer and Netscape at home on my PC. Anybody? Help?

Captures will be posted tomorrow. I'm currently revamping my vids site -- updating some of my deprecated HTML tags to XHTML and using CSS. I am in happy-geek-mode right now. *G*

I've got this Frodo & Sam vid set to Enya's "Boadicea" that I have been working on for a month. I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. This vid has been killing me. I'll sit down, work on it, go "There's not enough time left in the song for what's left of the movie! ARRGGH!" and then stop for a long time. But now. Oh yes. Now. I think I have the blasted thing under control.

Of course, if I finish it, I'll have NOWHERE TO UPLOAD IT! *snarl*

Anybody have any suggestions for a song for a Harry Potter vid for year two? Someting along the lines of "Book of Days" -- soft, maybe a little exotic sounding, definitely with no naughty words in it... anything? Somebody get me pointed in the right direction. I don't really want to do an instrumental vid as those are the hardest and what with school and all... after all, "Boadicea" may still be the death of me! *G*

As for the website problems... )

I don't want to work tomorrow.

Shower now.

I want last-dance.com back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*snarl* *rage* *pout* *whine*

Who the fuck do I have to sleep with to get my website up and running again? Who the fuck do I have to blow to have my host RESPOND TO MY BLOODY E-MAIL? They haven't responded to an e-mail I sent last month!! This is really bad bloody customer service.

... I don't feel better about this. I think I'm going to have a nap.

NOT happy

Last-dance.com is down.

Again.

AAAGH!!

My vids finally have their own home! Wonderful news, yes? Yes, of course it is. *g* View the glory that is ... my vids. Here: Drawn To the Rhythm (note Sarah McLachlan song title. Am waiting for Nettwerk records to sue me (along with Dimension video, Alliance Atlantis, New Line...). Have thrown Building a Mystery's counter onto DTtR, and given BaM a new counter. Because... I can. Site stat stuff shows that the vid sections get more hits than the galleries.

Am now being forced by muses to write Boromir/Lucifer, but I imagine it'll go the way of many of my other stories... get to a certain point, and then the muses will tire of me and wander off to talk to somebody else. Ingrates, they are.
