Murph's Place, a big ol' Russell Crowe website, linked to Drawn to the Rhythm yesterday. Specifically, to the Gladiator and M&C vids.

Got a lot of interest from visitors! So much so that my host has, in fact, shut down the vids section of my site completely. :-/ They've done this to me once before; they give me a warning that their server is not intended to "download large files", bah.

I'm one of those silly people who does leave the computer on, and seeing as it's in my room, I got on to check my mail after going to the loo, heh. I know I'm not alone in doing this -- I simply can't be. ;) Anywhoo, I can start the process to switch all the vids into a new folder now, but it'll take a long while as there are a lot of vids, and I do have to go in to work later on today.

Argh. Just... argh.

I just paid for another year with them, too. Dammit. Of course, I've been with them for going on three years now, and this is only the second time it's happened. Massive influx of traffic from something high-profile. Still... annoying to have everything shut down, and not be able to stick around properly to fix it. Bloody hell.

Folder suggestion names, anybody? *g* I've used "vids" and "media" before. Am at a loss what to call 'em this time 'round.

And now I'm going to go back to bed before I get to the point where I'm 100% awake and can't sleep anymore at all!

hey, I'm kind of here randomly, but I just wanted to let you know that my friend at university in Calgary (Canada) had a guest lecturer last night who was talking to them about slash and fandom and LJ and Sith Academy... anyway, she started out the lecture by showing one of your aragorn/boromir videos. to be precise, it was the one set to When I'm Gone.

I thought you might like to know. *g*

That was me, Ash, btw. And it was at the U of Lethbridge. It was off a CD, not your site.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada is the only Calgary I know! I'm proudly Canadian, and was in fact born there. ;)

Anywhoo, thanks for letting me know about that. As you probably can tell by the comment alert, I now know who it was who used my vid in her presentation, and it's somebody I've known in fandom for quite some time. Until she said so, I was in fact, admittedly rather annoyed, but it's all good know. :)

*scuffs toe* Yeah, I know. Am still very sorry about that. I know better, and should have asked. *facepalm*

oh, lord, I didn't mean to be telling - I thought it would be kind of a cool thing, you know? I am so sorry, to you as well as ashinae. I didn't mean to stir anything up.

No, no, no, it's fine. Ashinae has every right to know, and essentially it was a last-minute decision on my part to include it in a lecture where I had permission for everything else. As a fellow fan, it's my duty to extend certain courtesies that I may not need to as an academic, and it was a gross oversight on my part to go ahead without asking beforehand. As soon as I saw your first comment, however, I contacted her (after having been more or less offline since that Thurs.) and apologized, and I think I'm fretting about it more now than she is. ^_^ So no reason to worry, ok?

It is a beautiful video, though. *G*

Oh! That's wonderful to hear. Thank you for passing it on. I enjoyed giving it, and the class was really responsive, which was great (sometimes they just... sit). They had some interesting discussion at the end, too. ^_^

Popularity is teh crap when your host decides to shut you down for it!

I was real close to warning you about that yesterday when I commented on your last post, but you were probably asleep already and I must have assumed you knew about it anyway. I don't know who that "Rose" is who sent in the links to Murph.
I have seen the vids mentioned before and people didn't seem to pay much attention on message boards, but once something is on Murph's, well, then even Russell has seen it.

As for other names, you can call it, "creative" or "art", because that's what it is when it's your own creative work.

Woe.

Yeah, the vids have been mentioned here and there -- I keep track through SiteMeter. Never, never, before have they gained this much response, though. *flails* That's due to the popularity of Murph's site, of course.

The part that freaks me out is Russell seeing it. Cuz, you know, I feel no shame, as such, for what I do, but there's this paranoia of him following links and getting to my journal and then the pr0n. I don't mind him knowing I make vids from movies, including stuff he's been in. It's just the pr0n.
