Well, I do wanna read it to see what all the fuss is about, plus Paul's in the movie adaptation. *G* I've come under the impression that Brown is indeed a poor writer...
Have you read The Black Chalice? It's historical fantasy , and actually has a whole subplot thingy involving Jesus having a wife, etc. Also, I just really liked it. :) Bonus for slashy content!
I unintentionally made some Christmas cookies the other day when I tried something that was supposed to be vanilla wafers but turned out like basic sugar cookies.
Da Vinci Code should be read only because Paul is in the movie version and it's a really quick read that doesn't take more than a day or two. Brown is no great writer, however.
I'm serious. The style might not be your thing (it took me a while to get used to it), so when you're done with that, pick up ANANSI BOYS, which is the sequal, done in a different style, and is omgsogoodsogoodsogood. I saw the brothers twist thing coming, but I think you're supposed to. Neil rarely lets the readers get ahead of where he wants 'em to be. And did I mention that it's bloody brilliant???
