Date: 2006-01-15 08:28 pm (UTC)Da Vinci Code should be read only because Paul is in the movie version and it's a really quick read that doesn't take more than a day or two. Brown is no great writer, however.

The style might not be your thing (it took me a while to get used to it), so when you're done with that, pick up ANANSI BOYS, which is the sequal, done in a different style, and is omgsogoodsogoodsogood. I saw the brothers twist thing coming, but I think you're supposed to. Neil rarely lets the readers get ahead of where he wants 'em to be. And did I mention that it's bloody brilliant???

Date: 2006-01-16 06:33 pm (UTC)Well, I do wanna read it to see what all the fuss is about, plus Paul's in the movie adaptation. *G* I've come under the impression that Brown is indeed a poor writer...
Have you read The Black Chalice? It's historical fantasy , and actually has a whole subplot thingy involving Jesus having a wife, etc. Also, I just really liked it. :) Bonus for slashy content!
