So my aunt and uncle have two dogs. Tango and Trudy. They are Border Collies. Tango is a boy, Trudy is a girl. They're about 10/11 years old.

They hate thunderstorms. They run and hide and cower and I fear they will expire, poor babies.

There was a monstrous clap of thunder not long ago; one of those ones where the house shakes, just a little, and you go omgwtf!

I hear the sound of a dog scrambling. I know Tango will be in his bed in my auntie and uncle's room; so it must be Trudy. And I think nothing of it.

And then I have to pee. And what do I find?

Trudy in my bathtub.

Yeeeup.

I got those two bottles of Pureology at a GREAT price. Yay Chatters salon. Highly recommend that stuff for coloured hair. A+.

I actually do feel very, very badly for her when there's a storm. Last weekend, she joined me in my room when there was a big one and she'd settle for a while, and then pace, and settle, and pace. She shakes so badly that, I mean this with absolute sincerity, I really do fear she'll have a little doggie heart attack. I don't even know if it's possible, but I do worry.

And then she goes and tries to hide under my window, which does take a bit of the edge off my sympathy for her, because, dude. IT'S A WINDOW.

So erm...what'd you do? Shower curtain? *G*

Er, yeah. I couldn't coax her out, so, I closed the shower curtain. When I woke up in the middle of the night to go, she had finally left, but her doggie smell lingered. Thank goodness for air freshners sometimes...

You know, you might think about calling the vet and talking about it. They might be able to reassure you, and/or maybe even prescribe something to give her when a storm is coming so that she'll be more calm. When I had to get some anti-anxiety meds for my cat (long story), they didn't turn out to be expensive at all -- like, $30 for a month's supply. Cheaper by far than her antibiotics when she was sick.

It's awful to watch your pet be scared and not be able to reassure them. Poor little things. *hugs them and you*

Aaaaah... Bless! Those big, nasty bangs were out to get her!

It's one of those things that are funny, but you feel mean for laughing. Probably not alot you can do for them other than strokes and reassurance - which is all very well when it's not the middle of the night. ;)
