Sirius! *sob* I wasn't prepared for this. I was actually bracing myself for it to be Dumbledore, or Ron, or Hermione, or Ginny. I don't know why I wasn't expecting this at all. Was not prepared.
I was not surprised at. all. during the glimpse into Snape's memory. Not surprised one teeny tiny little bit. I must have somehow been expecting that without really expecting it. Yup.
Snape. Office. With the... and the... Harry... floor. Um. Y'anyway.
I'm now officially ready for somebody to seriously hurt Draco.
Am kind of glad the stuff with Cho didn't turn out. I'm not sure who I want Harry with, but not so much with her. And I'm actually glad Ginny had moved on, and that Ron and Hermione are still Ron and Hermione, in their way. They are too cute. Can't deal.
Dumbledore and the ass-kickage. Way too frelling awesome for words.
And Neville! Yay Neville!
Now for the stuff that will probably get me either unfriended or my ass kicked or something.
Dear Ms Rowling:
Please get an editor. No, a real one. Order of the Phoenix could have done with being a good 200 pages shorter. So how long is book six going to be? As long as Lord of the Rings?? Honestly. I kept sitting there thinking "Get to the point already!" And I have said this to a couple people, and I will say it again -- she's staring to make TOLKIEN sound succinct and to the point. Jeebus, and I didn't think that was possible. But I think it is. It was practically every other page, something BAD got thrown at Harry. A few times I was thinking I'd offer to put him out of his misery myself, and that can't be a good thing. Yeah, he's The Boy Who Lived. Yeah, he's got this destiny and all that. But, for the love of god, just let him maybe be a KID for a chapter? ONE chapter? Please? And NO, not while he's playing Quidditch! Can we just have one chapter in a book where I'm NOT wondering why Harry's not having suicidal tendencies yet? Really, it can be a page-turner without having all the melodrama!
Oh, and, um... I... I'm starting to get sick of Hagrid.

re: Harry's suicidal tendancies:
I completely agree. And I kept wondering when JKR was going to get *off* PMS. In fact, I kept wondering when Harry had had a sex change, becuase he was going through PMS as well.
re: Hagrid
he was rarely in it, but his dialouge was beginning to get to me. Dunno, might be becuase I read most of it at three a.m., but really. Grawp was....odd. Very odd.

Date: 2003-06-23 08:18 am (UTC)Harry's PMS -- yeah, exactly. I mean, I understand making him more like a typical teenager in his behaviour, but yikes! Most of the teenagers I remember from high school still smiled sometimes *g*
Grawp -- Well, I guess he, uh, served da plot. Or something. o.O [sarcasm] What better way to spend several pages than with a plot device, rather than character development. [/sarcasm] (Or Snape.)

I agree. There were quite a few places in the book where I was thinking, "I don't really need to read this, it's just more of the same". It absolutely could have been 200 or so pages shorter.
But I *loved* the Remus/Sirius action. The flashbacks? Yum.
And I would have never guessed it would be Sirius. I don't think I can stand it. My brain is trying to puzzle out how he can come back. I mean, he disappeared behind the veil. He could come back. *clenches jaw determinedly*

The flashbacks? Yum.
Oh yeah. Oh, that was some good stuff. I was very "Whee!" through that. Actually, I was very "Whee!" through anything with Remus & Sirius! *G*
He could come back.
Well, he has to! He just HAS to. And until then, I'll be living very happily in Denial. Or I'll just have to add my MiraculouslyUndead!Sirius to my MiraculouslyUndead!Boromir and they can have a party. Which would be very interesting, considering Sirius looks remarkably like Sean Bean in my brain. Mmm, so much sexiness in one place ...
