An interview from
lannamichaels:
1. What kink will you never write?
Ultimately, I'd have to say scat. I just--no, thanks. There are others I sincerely doubt I'd ever be able to manage, but that one, I just know deep down in my gut, that I simply could not possibly do it.
2. What kink did you used to say you'd never write, but you wrote anyway?
See, that's interesting. I think I'd have to say that there isn't one. I never once said I'd never write watersports, and yet... I did *G*
3. What pairing do you not understand?
Any pairing that's just about "the pretty". I mean, two of my OTPs are Legolas/Gimli (LotR) and Fraser/Vecchio (Due South). Now, my Legolas/Gimli isn't movieverse, they're my own images, since I think the movie versions are merely caricatures of the characters I love. I don't recall ever reading that all Dwarves are hideously ugly and deformed, so they're both rather pretty in my head, but I digress...
I get that there's an attraction to pairings like Elrond/Legolas or Legolas/Aragorn, but I just don't understand the whole "only in it for the pretty" thing. Maybe I'm a snob, I dunno. I like well-told stories with heart and soul and passion and that sort of thing. Not to mention crazy things like actual interaction and chemistry and such between the characters on screen. The best writers, I think, are the ones who are at least in it for the pairings that actually come across as real and genuine on-screen (or on the page, as the case may be) -- the ones where the characters do the things or mirror the things I mentioned before. Not just because the two guys are "hot" together. That seems far too superficial to me to get emotionally involved in.
4. What OTP will you never write?
Ooh, interesting question. Rings-verse, probably Frodo/Sam, because I could never do it better than the Professor, or even Jackson, did. I mean, it's all right there. I don't think there's any gaps I could fill. I still read F/S, but I could never, ever manage it myself. And any other pairing that we got lots of pay off for on-screen, so essentially, any m/f pairing, oh, and Vince/Stuart from QaF UK... or Xena/Gabrielle -- I've actually tried this, but have failed miserably. They don't speak to me at all.
5. If you had to chose between the sons of Denethor, which would you pick and why?
Give me my miraculously!undead Boromir. He makes my toes curl a more, and really, I like Eowyn/Faramir. I do. I wouldn't want to step on her toes, and, besides, Faramir and I may ultimately also be a little bit too much alike to be able to live with each other *G*
