This:
Computer back up and running. Lost everything. Very upset. Working on getting it all back, of course.
Have most of the extended version of Fellowship on my computer. Am working on a new Boromir vid *smiles*
Need to have a friend teach me how to use one of these properly things one day...
That: A quiz, borrowed from
cruisedirector. Because.
1. What was the first record you owned?
The Beatles' Red Album. Still listen to it a lot actually, though it certainly isn't the original version I had *G*
2. Is there a song that reminds you most of your childhood?
A song? No, not really. Just most 80s music.
3. If you could spend a night with five musical artists -- three for their minds and two for their bodies -- who would they be?
1) Jann Arden (incredibly talented and damn well one of the funniest women in Canada)
2) Sting.
3) Loreena McKennitt.
4) "Bono, who would be required to sing as well as talk and put out" --
cruisedirector
5) Ani DiFranco. I'll take her either way *eg*
4. If your life was a movie, what song/band would play over the following:
*** Opening Credits
"Not a Pretty Girl" -- Ani DiFranco (and read the lyrics [pardon the popups] before you make any unfair assumptions about me. I'm perfectly cute, thankyouverymuch).
*** Love Scene
You'd look at me funny if I said Nine Inch Nail's "Closer", wouldn't you? Wouldn't you? Huh? You would!! Ooh, how about "Master and Servant" by Depeche Mode? Heh... yeah... that's a good one... I don't think I'm going to be capable of giving a straight answer for this one. OOH! Ooh, "s & m: a love song" by Kidneythieves would be fun...
*** Driving Scene that Consists Mainly of Flashbacks and Love Lost
"Where the Streets Have No Name" -- U2
*** Closing Credits
"The Different" -- Melissa Etheridge, if only because it's my favourite song and it has to go SOMEWHERE.
*** Any other scenes?
"Ode to a Friend" by Jann Arden for Jo and Sara; that Ma-Na-Ma-Na song from the Muppets, just because; "The Imperial March" from The Empire Strikes Back in honour of Ms. Bright (bitch); probably some Sarah McLachlan, Bif Naked...
5. If applicable, name a song or concert that moved you to tears.
"Angel" by Sarah McLachlan (played at the funeral of a very close friend); "Time Of Your Life" by Green Day (favourite song of aforementioned close friend); "Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton.
6. What do you listen to when you're happy?
U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind" album.
Sad?
A lot of Sarah McLachlan and Jann Arden.
Upset?
Bif Naked.
7. Name one musical artist you would like to see banished.
How about any "musical artists" who aren't real artists? Though I wouldn't go so far as to say banishment, because I'm perfectly capable of changing the radio station. Though because I am someone who considers herself a "real" aritst, I must admit I'm highly irritated by these "musicians" who get rich and famous, riding on other people's work -- the work of the lyricists, the people who put the background music together, and the choreographers.
8. Name a song you would rather never hear again.
"... Baby One More Time" -- Britney Spears
9. Name an album that is perfect all the way through - no filler, no bad stuff.
"All That You Can't Leave Behind" - U2; "Gladiator" OST - Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerard; "The Mask and the Mirror" - Loreena McKennitt; "POP! The First 20 Hits" - Erasure
10. Music you like that could be considered a guilty pleasure.
Paul Gross & David Keeley, but only a little bit of their stuff, and mosly Keeley's; stuff from Aqua's "Aquarium" album; the "Phantom of the Opera" and Disney OSTs.
11. If your music collection was about to go up in flames, which five CDs would you save?
My 2-disc Star Wars OST because I've never seen it anywhere; my original Toronto cast recording CD of "The Phantom of the Opera", because it took me for-freaking-EVER to find once my tape died; the Beatles' Red Album; the Bush X CD I have because it's a collector's item (their first CD, 2-disc, and they're just Bush now) ; U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind" because it just makes me feel GOOD dammit; and that "Jenn's Favourites" mix CD I made . I'll assume everything else I can replace.
12. Is there a song that describes you or a situation you've been in so well that you could have written it?
dunno, man... dunno...
13. What is your favorite soundtrack?
It's a toss-up between Gladiator and The Fellowship of the Ring and the two Moulin Rouge! CDs. It kind of depends on what mood I'm in.
14. Best Music-Related Movie?
Moulin Rouge!, Hard Core Logo, Hedwig and the Angry Inch...
15. What is your all-time-favorite video?
"Where the Streets Have No Name" - U2.
16. Current favorite radio hit?
Everytime I like a hit, it gets overplayed.
17. Do you sing or play any musical instruments?
I'll sing, but no one's ever really told me if I'm any good at it or not. I also play the piano, clarinet(s) and saxophone(s).
