Peter's eyes open to his powers. This includes footage from episodes 1-7, and 10. What leads up to saving the cheerleader, saving the world.
A few words from the mind behind the vid...
Well. Let's see, I started this in October. I think maybe episode 5 or so had just aired, I was listening to Slean's album, "Day One", and something twitched in my head.
Yes, the song is remarkably upbeat. In fact, probably the most upbeat piece I have ever actually used. But Peter was so wide-eyed back then; intent on saving the world. The dreamy-eyed kid staring out the window. "All passioneers, up and out of the house!" could have been his motto.
So we have Peter, Nathan, Mama (Angela) Petrelli, Heidi, Mohinder, Isaac, and a visit from future!Hiro. A lot of touching on the relationship between Peter and Nathan; it's integral to Peter's development as a character. There are more thoughts I could type out about that, but then this just gets all spoilery for current episodes.
From a vid perspective, it's not particularly technically challenging, but that wasn't the point here. It went through a lot of tweaking in the making-of process, getting that timing down, playing with different tempos, cutting on different beats and... yeah, that's pretty much it. I think I utterly exhausted myself after that Final Fantasy Advent Children vid. *g*
Day One
Sarah Slean
I put my head back
Where it belongs up there in the clouds
I’m spreading love like
a terrorist now
O what a morning
O what a day to be alive
Sweet hope is glowing
in your glorious eyes
Pushing paper ain't enough
I bet you think that you’re so tough
But all your green won’t mean a thing at all
On day one
Day ONE
After Boy Wonder
After the dream came out of the mines
Bus boys and bankers
Were wiping their eyes
Be still my lionheart!
A revolution ready to pounce
All passioneers
Up and out of the house!
Beauty faked a heart attack,
Now I feel it coming back
And all your green won't mean a thing at all!
On Day one

The fact that you used Sarah Slean makes me adore you even more. You can never have too much Sarah Slean.
Oh, I hear you. Her music is just amazing.
I'm not sure how to describe this, but this song just *fits* Peter perfectly. It's creative & upbeat & hopeful & almost manic. It's completely Peter. It gives this great sense of the beginning of something, you know? This is how Peter begins his journey. It's a struggle, but it's also full of wonder.
Okay, you? Seriously just described what I was aiming for in this vid way, way better than I ever could have. That is exactly why and how this song worked for me, for him, but I have not had the words for it. You just got it all out there for me! *hug!*
Hmm, Peter really is the flip side of Sylar, isn't he? He creates, where Sylar destroys.
YES. And oh, if and when the two of them finally go head to head...
You should post this over at
I had completely forgotten about the comm. Thanks. :)
Btw, do you mind if I rec this?
I don't mind at all! :) 'Twould make me blush.
I need a Heroes icon...
Again -- thank you! :D

Date: 2007-02-22 05:22 am (UTC)I gotta be honest with you, though... it felt pretty weird at first, to have Heroes set to an upbeat song like this, but only for a moment.
This song really does fit Peter very well! Loved the scene choices... My favorite was that look Nathan gave him at "I bet you think that you're so tough". That was just brilliant!
Great job!!!

I'll be hanging on to this one! Great job!

Date: 2007-06-14 06:24 am (UTC)And I hear a double meaning to that refrain of "Day One," whether or not you meant there to be; it's bright and enthusiastic and earnest and idealistic, and yet I also hear it as foreshadowing the day of the explosion. When money and power won't mean a thing, in the face of that disaster.
Again, I like. :)
