Just a few notes:

-- Do not write to me to tell me that my Boromir vids (and stories, for that matter) would be better with Legolas. There is a reason they have Boromir in them, featured so strongly: they are about Boromir.
-- Not everybody thinks that Legolas is the star of Lord of the Rings. I'm open-minded enough to understand that there are people out there who do not see Boromir for the multifaceted (sexyashell) character that he is. I can accept this. So please respect my decision for picking Boromir as my favourite character.
-- I believe in the book. There are a lot of times I like the Fellowship movie better, actually, most times, but I believe in the book, too, particularly for Two Towers. Therefore, I believe in Legolas/Gimli. Call me heretical if you will, but I'm more fond of the Professor's vision of these characters than I am of Peter Jackson's. Legolas had a personality and Gimli was a lot less clownish.
-- The world does not revolve around the frelling Elf.
-- There is a reason I write and vid about Boromir. I like him. A lot. I like Sean Bean. A lot. I am not wasting my time and talent. I am doing stuff I love. I do not find perfect!pretty!movie!Legolas to be a particularly interesting character. There isn't much going on there. Boromir has a larger role in Fellowship and, ultimately, a far more interesting character arc.
-- Please. If you want the Legolas stuff so badly (minus the Gimli, because [sarcasm] god forbid people could actually like the Dwarf [/sarcasm]), go find the Legolas/Elf-centric Yahoo groups. Go look up the A/L slash that's out there, believe me, there's a lot of it. Write it yourself. Ask vidders how they make vids, and make your own.
My name is Ashinae, and I'm a Boromiraholic, and no amount of pretty Elf boy is gonna change that.
Good night.

Date: 2003-05-01 09:26 pm (UTC)PLEASE, WRITE IT/DRAW IT/MAKE IT YOURSELF!
I love diversity in fandom. But NOT when other people tell me what I should be writing/watching/doing!
(And I did not mean to bail on you on AIM, the program crashed and would not let me back on! I love you sweetums!)

Date: 2003-05-02 03:07 pm (UTC)That's become my mantra with these e-mails. And, yeah, it's plural here. Sigh. So annoying :)
And, honestly, wouldn't a person think that if any Boromir-focused artist wanted to write/draw/vid Legolas, they would??
(Besides, Boromir does have more screen-time; there isn't a lot of depth there to make Legolas vids with just Fellowship)

I agree about the Legolas/Gimli. It's one of hte reasons I oppose Aragorn/Legolas so much. I keep thinking "now, what is Gimli going to say about THAT?" Also, I've found, most Legolas fans are only fans because, and I quote, "ORLAnDo ISS sOO H00TT@!" Yeah, I know there are fans who can type and probably formulate a real response, but the people who only like LOTR becuase of Orlando, well...but I'm not going to rant in someone else's LJ. :p
And there is never, ever, anything wrong with doing Boromir. Boromir rocks. Boromir is the best. Boromir whoops ass. Just because he dies and that frelling elf doesn't...grrrrr...

I don't imagine that he'd say much at all. Rather, he'd chop Aragorn off at the knees. Heh.
Also, I've found, most Legolas fans are only fans because, and I quote, "ORLAnDo ISS sOO H00TT@!"
Yeah. It's not, "He has a remarkable character arc, full of angst, but also this incredible grace of spirit. And a multi-dimensional personality. You can really see the depth there, and the growth as well. A wonderful character." Um, no. I'll admit that I am a fan of book!Legolas, who, you know, did stuff. Said stuff. But even book-verse, there isn't that much going on with him! He's just kind of there. And only interesting when he's playing off Gimli. *snuggles Gimli*

I fully, deeply, truly understand you. And I think that's all that needs be said there, yes? *G*

Oooh! I always wanted one of these! Thank you :)

BOROMIR ROCKS! Yes, even if he died in the first movie and was tempted by the One Ring.

BOROMIR ROCKS! Yes, even if he died in the first movie and was tempted by the One Ring.
I'll always argue that's part of the reason why Boromir rocks so much!
Hooo YEAH!

And Legolas/Gimli is practically canon, darn it!
As far as I'm concerned, they're as canon as Frodo/Sam. And, hey, just look at the ending of RotK, right? Right *smirk*

Date: 2003-05-02 03:34 pm (UTC)I could respond to this, if I wanted to. I could respond to this; I could take a wild stab in the dark with this one, but my response would be very, very mean in regards to, er, talents, and, that just would not be nice of me. Not nice at all. So I will sit here with an evil little smirk on my face. See? *smirk*
I mean really, what did Legolas do in the movies? He had a couple of facial expressions.
Which is one of the many reasons why I don't vid him. At least Boromir does things. Really emotes. Talks, a lot. He has a huge part for only being in half the movie. Certainly, Legolas's role is expanded in the extended version, but then, so was Boromir's. There is honest-to-goodness material to work with, when dealing with Boromir. Why shouldn't I work with what Jackson has chosen to give us? *G*

Date: 2003-05-02 06:49 am (UTC)Besides, the only time Legolas is ever that interesting is with Gimli. But oh, wait, I forgot. Gimli's not pretty. Oops. Guess he has to die. Oy.

Date: 2003-05-02 03:40 pm (UTC)Gimli is VERY happy to hear this! ;)
And you do give good quality Boromir time. :-)
Oh, thank you very much! *curtsies again*
Besides, the only time Legolas is ever that interesting is with Gimli.
This is something I've been saying since December '01... Sigh!
But oh, wait, I forgot. Gimli's not pretty. Oops. Guess he has to die. Oy.
(You know, this really, honestly, truly reminds me of the problems that occur in the Due South fandom. Sigh.) My poor, dear Gimli! But, hey. We can look at it this way: Legolas may have the looks, but Gimli obviously has the heart and the personality. Would rather have unattractive sweetheart than the purty cardboard cutout ;)

Date: 2003-05-02 04:46 pm (UTC)I've gotten a couple of those "why don't you make a Legolas vid" emails, and promptly ignored them. It's taken until TTT to make movie!Legolas even vaguely interesting, and pretty just doesn't do it for me. But Boromir... ah, he's fascinated me since I first read the books way too long ago. And how can you not love Sean's performance.

Date: 2003-05-08 03:28 pm (UTC)Legolas is okay but really, he's far from the end all be all for me.
Aragorn and Boromir. And yes, I am a Hobbit lover. But the Elves? Just don't do too much for me.
I will say that it is rude as hell for someone to tell you what it is they think would work better in YOUR videos. That is ridiculous. You want something so bad, make it yourself. But do not tell someone who has offered time and effort to produce something that it would be better if they inserted a different character into it. *growls*
