Well, [livejournal.com profile] sara_elf and I saw Phantom last night.

No shame. We both liked it. A lot.

See, the thing to bear in mind here, is that we both absolutely love the music -- particularly, of course, the original Canadian cast (Colm Wilkinson and Rebecca Caine). But neither of us were actually particularly impressed with the production itself. I've always, always had the soundtrack, and listen to it frequently, but was never interested in ever seeing the production more than once.

You can do so, so much more with film than you can on stage. It was beautiful, and lavish, and big, and the sound was just booming and fantastic. (Also, Emmy Rossum has a beautiful voice!) And of course, I went in here knowing that ultimately, ALW never gave up artistic control. He was involved in the casting and the screenplay. If that was the case, there couldn't have been anything going on in that movie that would have given him an aneurysm. So personally, I'm really quite content.

Also? Sara and I both left giggling amongst ourselves and saying, "I'd still lick him! It only looks like a really, really, really, really, really, really, really bad rash!"

*

I slept terribly last night. Ugh.

Also, I'm feeling a little sad . . .
that I'm seeing people posting roundups of the various Establishment Christmas logs and nobody's mentioned Paul/Russell. I know it's silly of me, as we've had a lot of people telling us how they feel about their storyline since they finally started to sorta-kinda connect, but now I feel kind of like I don't know if anybody's really following anymore. I still love writing Russ to [livejournal.com profile] rahalia_cat's Paul (who is so omgfuckingamazing). It's more just the fact that it's been very easy to gauge everything from readers' reactions, and know what was working and what wasn't, and now it's just -- are people just quiet, or have things gone really, really wrong?? Ugh. I want to stop being so fucking insecure about everything I do!

Will reply to comments later, and probably post a proper Christmas round-up with a picture of the Gryffindor scarf that [livejournal.com profile] sara_elf knitted for me.

In my case I'm just dead solid busy with the holidays. Russ and Paul are a couple that's easiest to read in large chunks, 'cause their storyline tends to end up backdated, and so they're on my list along with Craig/Tom to catch up with when I have a chance. *snogs*

Ah, yes, that I can understand. I'm just horribly scared and insecure right now.

I'm guessing that it probably has something to do with not knowing whether or not I'm going to be fired in two weeks. This is a little more tangible, perhaps. I'm a mess of neuroses!

*hugs you up* Are they connecting? I hadn't been reading 'cause between Hugh and Russell and Russell and Paul my poor wee heart couldn't take it (t'was pushing all the wrong heartbreakage buttons). But if we're moving towards, you know, something that won't make me cry, I'll definitely come check them out.

And SK!Vin could use some company.... *snoggles*

Oh, yes, the boys finally connected a while back. They were only apart for maybe two weeks. If you go to Russell's memories, there's "Paul finally visits Russell before entering the clinic". It's not heartbreaking, though bittersweet, and has things finally getting on the mend. Then from there, besides Russell doing Something Really Fantastically Stupid In Public, it's the boys getting back together and working things out and no tears.

And... gee, I keep forgetting about poor Patrick! I'm very bad.

It was wonderful wasn't it? The Phantom was indeed lurvely beyond belief, I can't believe that prat chose the putz Raoul. Some people have no taste.

It was so lovely! I'm trying to figure out what everybody's whining about beyond the Michael Crawford thing...

I saw Phantom last night too. I was so excited when I saw that Gerard Butler was playing the Phantom. He's wonderful.

Oh gosh yes. I am much with the Gerard adoration. Rrwor. He was so, so fantastic during the "Point of No Return" part. They should be showing a clip from that to advertise him when he does his interviews! Damn.
