fiercy has a birthday soon. This is for her, because we love her, and she deserves it.

Really, NYT? Really? SIGH.
Apr. 15th, 2011 05:00 pmSo Ginia Bellafante of the New York Times posts a review of HBO's Game of Thrones adaptation, in which she says, "While I do not doubt that there are women in the world who read books like Mr. Martin’s, I can honestly say that I have never met a single woman who has stood up in indignation at her book club and refused to read the latest from Lorrie Moore unless everyone agreed to 'The Hobbit' first."

Mar. 6th, 2011 07:11 pmThe dream becomes real. And the answer to this quest, this need to solve life's mysteries, finally shows itself. Like the glowing light of a new dawn.
So much struggle for meaning, for purpose, and in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic, and the mundane.
The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect, and to know in our hearts that we are not alone.
~ Mohinder Suresh; Heroes 1x23, "How to Stop an Exploding Man"
Let's pretend I'm a n00b.
Jan. 9th, 2011 10:44 pmJust for a moment.
I'm sure it hasn't escaped anyone's notice that I've been absent for, literally, years. The reasons for that are varied and a lot of them appeared on my "eff you, 2010" post from week-before-last.
I want to try to get back into the swing of fandom, because, while the time I have to myself and my computer is different, and fandom seems a different place to me than it was from '01-'07, and shows have come and gone and people have come and gone, while I have suffered from sometimes crippling bouts of depression--while all of that is the case, I would like to try to get back into things.
So, let's pretend I'm a n00b for a moment.
First: I'm looking for newsletters. I know that they exist. I think they might be necessary for me. Do not look to see if I've already friended them, let's just say I have no clue.
What would I be interested in? Doctor Who, White Collar, The Mentalist, Heroes, Sherlock, Stargate: SG-1, Stargagte: Atlantis, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Chuck, House, Babylon 5, Firefly.
Second: icons and vids. What are the "best" comms for those, being that I do understand that the word "best" is entirely subjective. Places to post, places to get resources, all of that.
So yeah. Help? Please? ♥

Deep thoughts for the day.

So I told her:
OUR BODIES ARE PASTEDE IN YEY
Also, Caldwell is checking out Teyla.
Also, John's brain is in a galaxy far, far away.
Also, Elizabeth's hair is pretty.
Also, Ronon is going to eat my soul.
Also, Carson is trying to pretend Rodney is not grabbing his ass.
Also, Rodney's like, I am totally grabbing Carson's ass.
And those are my thoughts on that picture, in order.
A pre-emptive request for help
Jan. 8th, 2011 07:49 pmHello world!
So last year,
linden_jay and I participated in
au_bigbang because we are nothing if not a) wordy bitches and b) fond of AUs. (We wrote a Sports Night fic set in a small Nova Scotia fishing town. No, really.)
We're intending to do Stargate Atlantis this year, Sheppard/McKay (duh), and likely set in modern-day but all of our beloved Stargate folks would be, well, not Stargate folks. We're bandying-about an idea that I'd had roughly six thousand years ago but never wrote (see, Mum? sometimes it does pay to procrastinate!).
Anyway, long story short (too late) what we're wondering is if there's anybody out there who would be willing to give us a hand on the moral support/beta reading front? We won't have a story for at least a couple of months, I'm sure, as sign ups don't even officially start until, ah, March. But we're just wondering if there's anybody who we'd be able to e-mail down the road in the spring to say "Hey, we have a chapter, couldya, wouldya?"
*listens to crickets chirp*
*watches tumbleweed go by*

Jan. 5th, 2011 07:01 pmI have this story I wrote and I don't know what to do with it re: posting, because the pairing? Is a spoiler. It's revealed at the end, it's a surprise, and I'm not sure how to go about posting it. (Is Doctor Who fic, if anyone's curious.)
Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? Tomatoes?
ETA:
caras_galadhon has given me my work-around on this. Whee!

Dec. 15th, 2010 09:01 amSo who just applied a bill payment for the entire balance of her credit card (as well as paying all her other bills, too)?
YEAH THAT'S RIGHT THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE.
W00T.
Couple of days, and I'll have a zero balance on my Visa!!
*does a little dance*
Okay, sure, I am going to be tightening the hell out of my belt until I get my mid-January paycheque, but I AM DEBT FREE.

Oct. 7th, 2010 12:38 pmWhat does one do when the idea of going on a week's vacation is causing more stress than NOT going on a week's vacation?
Yes, you read that right. The idea of leaving work for a week right now is giving me quite literal dry heaves and I'm pretty sure I can feel my blood pressure rising.
Do I stay? Do I go? GAH.

Okay, SERIOUSLY.
Sep. 17th, 2010 10:41 amETA TO INFINITY OMG: I'm fine! I'm not talking about me. I don't have a broken foot or a concussion or a spouse or even a relationship for eight years now.
Back to my regularly scheduled post:
Listen.
If your spouse won't drive 12.4km (which is approx 7.7 miles for our non-metric friends out there) to pick up your contact lenses when you have a broken foot and a concussion?
THEN YOUR SPOUSE DESERVES TO BE NOT YOUR SPOUSE NO MORE.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu--
*explodes*
