People who complain about receiving feedback that just says: "I love it!" or something similar...

STFU. At least you're getting feedback.

Fic, mostly; though I'm sure there are some artists/vidders out there who feel the same way. Every once in a while I just come across a post from a fanfiction writer saying pretty well the above -- that such feedback is annoying, or useless, or whatever -- and it makes my blood boil, because I've sure as hell posted fic/vids that have received no feedback at all. I'm happy to get everything I can.

Gah, ditto there! If I get ANY feedback at all it makes me so happy.

Exacticly! I'll take anything from "Good!" to three-paragraph essays. But the "Good!"s make me smile just as much as the well-thought-out concrit.

i know what you mean.
like really, would they rather have NO feedback?
it's good to know that people like it!
whatever to them.

Yeah, that's exactly it. The alternative sometimes is people not leaving anything at all. How is that better?

Oh, I couldn't agree more! While I can understand that one-liners can be kind of frustrating when you want to know why people liked something, calling such feedback useless? Fucking ungrateful if you ask me. Just add a line "no feedback, thanks" if you can't handle them.

Fortunately I've finally reached the state where I write things for myself and won't feel down if I don't get feedback at all. I love every little note I get, I really do, because it shows that others might like what I like, but liking the thing myself is enough and getting feedback is just very lovely extra. :)

Exactly. If "I liked this!" is going to cause you to foam at the mouth like an ungrateful bitch, then it's best to leave a "Concrit ONLY for feedback/reviews please" in your author notes. Rar.

Good! :) I'm almost-sorta there. I still create because I want to, and it gives me joy to see my final product, but I don't share it to share it with a vacuum. However, if only one person tells me they liked it, that still makes me happy. :) Getting no feedback at all on my last music video made me really sad -- but part of that might be because I make so few of them now, and also partly because it was a joint effort. :)

And that's okay, too. :) Whenever I put something up, of course I hope there is at least one person who likes it. Everyone wants that, because why else would we share the things online? On the other hand, even if I might not get feedback, it doesn't mean nobody gave it a try. :) At least that's what I try to tell myself. However, if the project is a big one and I've put a lot of work in it, I will feel sad if nobody says anything.

Aww. :( Was it the Eternal Sunshine one? My reason for not dling and watching is that I have never seen the movie and know next to nothing about it. If it's a fandom I know and I like, I always dl the stuff. :) I'm bad at sending feedback on non-fic posts (art, vids etc.) because I never know what to say. I should probably do something about that. I don't want nice people to feel unloved when they're not. :) *hugs tight*

I always respond to people who like my fic. If they've bothered to write just a line saying they loved or liked it, my fic somehow affected them in a positive way which is good.

I try to do that with everything I post myself, but sadly that's something I've never been good at if it's not in my own journal. Woe. :(

I completely agree with you. It's so ungrateful to say that, as if everyone is required to leave you feedback or something.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's a wonderful world where we could all possibly say we create just for ourselves and don't care if we get feedback -- we all want it. But when writers/vidders/whoever complain about the type of feedback they receive, I'll bet it just scares off more and more people from replying. I admit I am pretty well at the point where I am in fact almost afraid to leave feedback for people I don't know because I'm not good at well thought out concrit -- usually if something really affects me I'm only capable of "Wow! This was amazing! Thank you!" and the like.

Uh, we all are insatiable in some way. But some people just need to learn how to look at the brighter side of life and I feel sorry for those who don't know how to.

What a pity.

It's a shame indeed. I do fear the attitude that "I liked it!" feedback is useless and unwanted causes more readers/viewers to not leave any at all, when they find out that writers/vidders/artists don't appreciate such comments. :(

That sounds awful... but imo, when people are so obsessed over something, they usually try out their skills; one way or another. Thus we all have gone through the feelings of writers/vidders/artists and know so well how it feels about getting feedback. Most of us do appreciate whoever leaves a comment/review to their work. What I'm trying to say is, you'd basically treat others the way you want others to treat you, yes? Therefore, I don't think readers will stop leaving an "I liked it!" type of feedback, cause if they're in the writers' shoes, they'd also appreciate that kind of comments. ;)
(I'm saying this on the account that you-know-what kind of people isn't the majority here.)

Am I making any sense? *hangs head*

Btw, *licks your icon* your brain's adorable!

Well, I usually try to write something more intelligible, but I always felt that it was better to leave comment than nothing at all.

See, I do feel that way too. I love all my feedback quite equally! I can't understand the attitudes of folks who see "I loved this!" as less desirable than three-paragraph essays with footnotes and well-cited quotations. Geez. :(

As a writer in a tiny corner of a small fandom, I totally agree! Only a half dozen people read my stories, but still -- only two of them leave comments with any regularity. Frustrating.

It certainly is frustrating. :( I do find that getting just one or two comments is certainly better than receiving none at all, but I sometimes find the "I liked it is useless" attitude scares people from leaving comments to everybody, because they just don't know who feels that way, or may assuming that the vast majority of writers/vidders have this attitude. :(
