I had just been noticing the other day the sweet look on Stephen's face as he's trying to watch the bird. Just another one of those subtle nuances of the film that make it still enjoyable after repeated viewings. Of course, that makes what happens next all the more sad.

The expression on Stephen's face here is one of the many things that actually really struck me during my very first viewing of the movie. It's just beautiful.
