Well, go me.
Mar. 19th, 2005 09:00 amMy life can now start slowly getting back to normal. My training is over; no more commuting down to Toronto via the 400 and the 401; no more up-at-6:30, home-at-7:00; no more homework. Training is over. I start in-centre on Monday. Life can slowly start getting back to normal.
I don't have a lot to say, really, in "me" news. They spelled my last name wrong on my diploma; it'll be a few weeks before that's fixed. Alas. I started the programme last Saturday, and I am down 3 pounds since Monday. Go me.
So, yes, I have missed out on a lot of stuff here in LJLand. The basic rundown would probably be something to the point of:
Happy Birthday! Oh, I totally agree with that. God, I'm so sorry that happened. *HUGS*. I hope you're feeling better! I hope everything works out for you. Oh my gosh, that is so, so totally cool. OMGYAY. SQUEE House. People are silly, aren't they? Ooooooh, shiny!
Yeah. I think that would just about sum it up. *G* I mean, there really is no way for me to catch up on three weeks, is there?
*
thefridayfive, on Saturday:
1. What are your five favorite all time TV shows?
Hmm. *looks at DVD collection* Farscape, Babylon 5, Xena, Due South, and now House.
2. What five things you want to do before the year is out?
3. Who are five people (alive, dead, or otherwise) you would want to have dinner with?
Oooh. *ponders* Paul Bettany+Jennifer Connelly+Russell Crowe. *grin* Bono. Jann Arden.
4. Where are five places (cities, states, countries, etc.) you would like to visit?
Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Scotland. At least I have a really good hope of understanding the language, y'know? I'd also like to go to Vancouver, head out to Calgary again to visit family since I haven't in eleven years now, and I'd like to do another wee tour of the maritime provinces.
5. What are your five favorite desserts?
Ice cream -- bordeaux cherry and DQ Oreo Blizzards in particular. Cherry pie. Homemade -- peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies and chocolate puffed wheat squares. (OMG if you've never heard of such thing, just ask, and I will post the recipe. They are to die for.)
( and I so seldom ever do these, but oh, this made me giggle )

I would do a mini-series (or even a full, handful-of-seasons series!) of David Eddings' Elenium trilogy. If that went well, I'd also do the sequel trilogy, The Tamuli. And yes, I'd probably want to direct. I'd have my two Eddings-fan best friends at my side during the whole thing to make sure I didn't get too tyrannical and to make sure I kept my eye on the big picture, realising that NO, the most important aspect of the novels is not all the fighting and special effects!

Part of being on Livejournal.com is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first meeting you.
This seems as good an idea to me as any, considering I keep getting friended by people and sort of can't fathom why *g* If you're new, vaguely new, or even old to reading the utter inanity and dullness that is my LJ -- who are you? Why are you here? I'm very, very curious.
Also, because this is something that I had been thinking recently, and
cruisedirector said it so much better than I could (which is, heh, often the case!):
And, yes, another new icon. *pets pretty Maximus* I went on a bit of a spree a few days ago. I also made a matching pair of Aubrey and Maturin icons that I don't think I GIPped off and am far, far too lazy to double-check, so please pardon me if I have:

Am I crazy, or is the font I used there for "heart" and "soul" the same font used in the menus on the DVD (the 2-disc collector's edition, at least, for I have not seen the single-disc edition)?
I must now return to revamping my icon archive. Provided, of course, that EditPad would just frelling stop shutting down randomly all over the place.

This has never happened to me before, because I believe that nearly all people have the potential to be bisexual or at least to experiment, so it is rare for me to react negatively to seeing a primarily straight character in slash or a primarily gay character in het fic, though there are pairings I won't read because of OTP issues (Aragorn/Eowyn, Aubrey/Pullings). However, I have concluded that I urgently need Remus Lupin het warnings. Seeing him with a woman feels inexplicably to me like trying to force heterosexuality upon someone who isn't, even though that's quite silly as canon is terribly subtle upon the issue of his sexuality. I wonder how angry I will be at Rowling if she actually has Lupin marry Hestia Jones or something. What's odd is that if she announced that Sirius and Bellatrix were once lovers, it wouldn't bug me the same way, despite Sirius' apparent lack of interest in girls as an adolescent in GOF.Word, man. Remus just might be gayer than Boromir, and that's saying something *G*

Oct. 9th, 2003 11:39 am1) Throughout elementary school, I got consistent C's in art.
This is true. I am also the only person I know who did so badly in elementary school art. Everybody else got A's just for making sure that their space was tidy. I sucked THAT BAD.
2) I well and truly thought that the Fellowship movie was going to suck ass and the only reasons I went to see it were for Sean Bean and Jo's desperate desire to go see it.
This is true! I was NOT psyched to see Fellowship. I thought it was going to be visually stunning, from what I saw in the trailers. But I was terrified that they would just butcher it. But Jo wanted very much to see it, so I promised her I would go with her after looking at the cast list and seeing Sean Bean's name (and, naturally, thinking "Well, gee, he's playing a character that dies, what a surprise!").
3) I have played Mercutio, Juliet, and Kate in various Shakespearean productions.
This is the lie, though it's a lie wrapped in truth *G* I have indeed played Mercutio and Juliet -- in the same production, even, which was, er, fun. I have not, however, played Kate. I've played Rosalind, though.
4) My very first OTP was Legolas/Gimli when I was twelve after finishing Lord of the Rings for the first time.
True as well. Obviously. Would have also been able to include Frodo/Sam if my poor twelve-year-old self hadn't been very bitter about The Ending.
5) My mother used to be able to kick my ass at video games.
True! I have the coolest mom sometimes, when she's not selling my puppy. I was very young when the original Nintendo came out, and she would play with me. And kick my ass, because, dude, I was 5 or so. She continued to do so for many years. She probably still would if she hadn't stopped playing for many years in my early adolescence and then went and developed arthritis in her hands. She's started playing again, but doesn't usually play games I do, or, if she does, they're not exactly competitve type games or we're good at different things so don't play competitively. She's very keen about Tiger Woods golf games right now.
