I read an odd combination of fiction; romance, fantasy, horror and mystery. I can spend a month on fluffy romance novels only to turn around and pick up Bone Rattler. The journalist who wrote the article you quoted from is the kind of snob who really pisses me off. As a bookseller I see a huge range of books chosen for book clubs and they're not all the same genre as Water for Elephants. And I'm not mocking WfE, I simply get sick of the notion that a group of women are only going to read Reading Lolita in Tehran. Sometimes it's Hunger games. And there's nothing wrong with that.
And seriously, is this woman cracked in the head? Game of Thrones has Sean Bean in it. As the great Stan Lee would write; 'Nuff said.
