[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive : That's Entertainment!

1. What is your all time favourite book? Today, I'm tempted to go with The Princess Bride by William Goldman. Is fun and wonderful.
2. What is your all time favourite movie? Some days, it's Memento, other days it's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Occasionally, it's The Emperor's New Groove. What can I say? I have very eclectic taste.
3. What are you reading right now? The Eyre Affair by Jaspar Fforde. It is ♥.
4. What is your favourite show on tv? Currently playing, hands-down, Heroes. I wonder if it would still be House if they hadn't done the cop storyline. If I can take into consideration shows that are no longer airing, my favourite is Farscape, even though, curiously, it is not one I come back to again and again simply because it's a lot of DOOM with a side of DOOM even though it can be funny as hell because it's like it's a comedy but the characters don't realise and then there's the GROSS that I can only take so much of, but dear god, season 2-4 of this show just... YES.
5. What is the last movie you saw in the theatre? Happy Feet. ♥

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5 : What are the five coolest gadgets, in any fandom? Wherein Ash takes the term gadget and makes it into anything that's, well, a machine of sorts. Typically, I see gadgets as things like sonic screwdrivers and various other wee handheld things, but I couldn't think of enough of those. In no particular order:

1. The White Stars - Babylon 5. Holy crap, those ships are made of awesome. Even if they do look like plucked chickens.
2. That x-ray machine thingy - Firefly. Where it gives the whole 3D image that can be turned and manipulated and all that. Seen in "Ariel".
3. DRDs - Farscape. Fun little robots that live on the Leviathans (which, for the uninitiated, are living ships). They have wee little personalities. And can be taught to "sing", apparently. *G*
4. The TARDIS - Doctor Who. I've always known that the TARDIS is too cool for its own good. It's weird, actually, how much I actually knew about Doctor Who before I started watching the 2005 series. This is what it means to have a much-older brother who is as much, if not more, of a geek than I am. I wonder if he likes the new Doctor Who? Aaaanyway, that was a tangent. Onwards!
5. RD-D2 - the whole Star Wars saga. He's smart, he's fun, he's spunky, he's the very glue that holds the fabric of the Star Wars universe together. Tell me he's not, I dare you. If it weren't for Artoo, the good guys would not have won. TELL ME THAT'S NOT TRUE.
