Recipe and silliness
Jan. 30th, 2005 04:34 pmBroccoli & Cauliflower salad
For
rahalia_cat, mostly, but for anybody else adventurous enough to try :)
The only thing that I actually have proper measurement guidelines for is the dressing, so bear with me. The amount of chopped (small pieces) broccoli and cauliflower you want is dependent pretty much on the size of the bowl you're going to use. You want about a 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion, and about 1/2 cup or a cup of raisins, which are entirely optional. I don't like the raisins on it myself, but both of my parents do. As for the amount of broccoli and cauliflower -- maybe two stalks each from your typically-sized bunch?
Dressing:
3/4 cup of mayonnaise (we like Hellman's light, incidentally)
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tbsp white vinegar
Mix all that, and pour very liberally over the salad. If you have one of those long, wide bowls for the salad, that's even better, to really get it all coated. You should have about five large spoonfuls left at the bottom of your dressing bowl, if you want to add more later. Refrigerate everything for 2-3 hours; 1 hour at the very least.
Also optional: 1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese (mild or medium) to sprinkle on top before eating.
If you give it a try, let me know what you think!

And the silliness
Me: *pushes button to open DVD drive*
DVD drive: *does nothing*
Me: *stares*
DVD drive: Gee, I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what it is you want me to do here.
Me: *pushes the button again*
DVD Drive: Oh! You want me to open! Why didn't you say so in the first place, silly human?
Me: That is what I said in the first place!
