Alive, but slowly burning out.

So we're short-staffed at work. My three co-workers are going nuts, quite tense, and it's radiating onto me. My hours are insane (generally, 9-10 hours a day); sure, I get an hour break, but I'm a 20-30 minute drive from home, so what's the point in leaving? The latest training period just ended and we don't have anybody for our centre; please, please, keep up good vibes that someone will get through training in the next period that starts May 2.
I've been keeping up fannishly, but commenting little and, obviously, not posting at all. But the lovely
lilithilien commented on my last entry with concern for my well-being, so I thought I'd let everybody know I'm okay, just very, very tired. I'm also still active-ish in the Establishment, and I've picked up Colin Farrell as my third pup.
rahalia_cat and I are still working on other things, too. Good god, I hope that once we get a fifth (or, god willing, a fifth and sixth!) body into the centre, I can start being fannish again!
I've lost ten pounds since March 11, and am very happy with that. Only 70 more to go *G* I really need to get my arse in gear and get some sort of "before" picture to really show the loss; unfortunately, my before won't really be a proper before since I'm down the ten pounds. God knows I'm not going to put it back on!!
I was just in the middle of typing that I couldn't remember the last thing I wanted to say, but now I do remember:
I just received a New Line Cinemas newsletter; it looks like a movie adaptation of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell is getting slowly off the ground. They've hired a screenwriter to adapt it. Should be interesting -- of course, I have to read the book. ;)
I'm about 1/3 of the way through Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass (book three of His Dark Materials). I'm really, really enjoying these books, I just wish somebody had warned me about how dark they are! Also, I have no fucking idea how they are going to adapt these books into movies by removing any mention of the church. WTF? Is that really still the plan? Cuz as far as I can see, that would have been like The Lord of the Rings without, say, Saruman. The hell.
Randomly: I am curious which icon(s) the lovely folks who keep up with my journal associate with me the most. ... So, yeah, mostly I'm just fishing for comments that I really don't deserve. ;)
Anyway. Am off to check my flist and the rest of my mail and then probably fall into bed. Hopefully I'll be able to sort of keep keeping up!
