Heroes - 1x22 - Landslide

Huh. I never did last week's squee. But last week was a difficult week. So... well. I actually still need to really sit and re-watch last week's, too. Does this make me a bad fangirl? Or does last night's picspam make up for that? Anyway, on with it.

· Hiro's self-doubt is starting to bother me, a little, but I love him anyway. However, Ando's confidence, Ando's newfound desire to save the world is remarkable. (How did the sword break, exactly?)

· "I thought Peter was the only person who could protect me, but now you're here." ♥

· Have I ever mentioned how I love the camerawork and editing and composition of shots on this show? I probably have. *g*

· "Me too." Oh, Sylar. You evil hotass. (Just go shag Mohinder, k?) No, but, really. Zachary Quinto's lookin' gooooood.

· How come no one on TV ever says goodbye on the phone? I hate it when people don't say goodbye to me on the phone. I do.

· Did anybody else expect Linderman to be all "And in time, you will call me Master!" McDowell was totally channeling McDiarmid here.

· OK. So Papa P had an ability, too? AND Mama P? Or has Mama P been a herring all along and she's an ordinary person like Evil Eric Roberts Thompson? (And possiblly Hiro's Papa?) I'm confused and intrigued.

· Heidi's looking gorgeous! And Linderman so just healed her. Awesome! Now Nathan owes him his soul -- which, yeah, that look on his face? He knows it.

· Ha, superhero references! "Patrol", Claire? Yep, you're Buffy. And Pete with his undies over his pants. Hah. I betcha he did that when he was wee and nobody was looking. Little Peter, jumping on his bed, being Superman. Ha ha ha.

· And of course Peter picks up on Sylar -- who's still stalking them and eating... I missed it. What, ice cream?

· Hiro lights up when Nathan's around. ♥ Nathan just melts, but of course he's all hiding it. -- And he just broke Hiro's sweet, sweet heart. :( "I never thought Nathan would give up." *sniffle* Poor dear. Hasn't been watching the show, has he?

· Ah! Very blatant "Godsend" symbol. And the blacksmith knows about Kensai, aaaand Sulu's back! I mean, Nakamura Sr. Hee. "You've reached the end of your journey." I wonder if he means what Hiro obviously thinks he means. Methinks not.

· Trivia aired before this commercial break: The writers for the show are all given one character, and they write an ep in three days.

· Called it. Nakamura Sr's been watching Hiro all along. Maybe the previous gen is actually trying to get the current gen all in one place to save everybody? *scratches head*

· "I have a cousin who eats like you. He's huge." "So am I." -- Hmm. My previous thoughts may be wrong. Or... oh, I love this show because I don't know. Either they want it to happen because... WHAT? We've seen the future and it ain't pretty for anybody. Or they don't, because, well, boom.

· Audrey! Hi, Audrey! Arresting Ted. Because SYLAR. Signed, sealed, delivered. Ted is no more. (And Sylar's all "OH I'M ISAAC MENDEZ TEE HEE. CIVIC DUTY BLAH BLAH." God, I want to ... well, I want to do Zachary Quinto. I want to watch Mohinder do Sylar, but, shhhhh.)

· Okay. So Hiro's daddy wants hiro to save the world. Is he one of the previous cabal, for lack of a better word, who the others (Petrelli(s)? Linderman?) say lost his way? Cuz, he's just said that the others lost their way and and and the plot. And I wonder if we'll actually get the answers by the end of 1x23 (which I'm pretty sure is only a one-hour ep? anybody?) or if we'll get them next season. Spoiler for next week: on this morning's Today Show interview, Grunberg said that four characters' fates are up in the air at the end of 1x23 so the explosion can't be written off for good and it's either Sylar or Peter but -- I don't know where I'm going with this and the commercial's almost over.

· PS -- Papa Nakaumura pwns.

· PPS -- I can't believe I actually just used the "word" "pwns" and I'm just leaving it.

· Okay, [livejournal.com profile] lannamichaels. I kinda sorta like Candace now that she's not a totally smirky bitch. She's actually genuinely concerned for wee Micah.

· Also -- did anyone NOT guess that this is what Linderman wanted Micah to do?

· <random superficiality> Methinks Jessica's hair is prettier than Niki's, frequently.</random superficiality>

· Nathan just won big time.

· Soooo. I wonder if Jessica and DL actually even get to Linderman. Or if Linderman's gonna be all like "Oh, Jessica, here, look, lots of money and your kid, just kill your husband, mmmkay?"

· omg how AMAZING is my imaginary boyfriend? OH HIRO.

· "Okay. A simple no would've done the trick." I love inappropriate moments of humour smack dab in the middle of DOOM DOOM DOOM. (Hi, Farscape?) Matt is just so awesome right here. Porno. Hee. Sliiiick, Matt. -- "Didn't I throw you out a window?" HA HA HA. ♥ (Okay, see, I like Jessica/Niki, and I like DL, and I like Micah, but their whole storyline thing just doesn't work for me. Unless they're encountering other heroes.

· Commercial break. I notice a distinct lack of MOHINDER so far. :(

· MOHINDER! HEY. So pretty. -- "Good, I guess, so long as I don't get anymore shots." Hee, she's adorable! -- "It's my other hero." OH MATT. (Um, no, I did not just stare at Mohinder's cargo-pants-clad ass. I didn't!)

· Ah, Evil Eric Roberts. This is not a coincidence. He knows Matt and Mr Bennet are coming. Also? Mohinder's awfully pretty.

· OH GOD this is just -- does Mr B know that the tracking system is MOLLY? -- nope. Sort of. He knew it was a person with powers, he just didn't know this person was a little girl. Also, um, Mohinder's got a gun again and it's NOT hot. Really.

· DUDE SYLAR FLIPPED A BIG TRUCK. HE'S AWESOME. But evil. BUT AWESOME. When he's evil. (Awesomer when he's with Mohinder and all "Hi, Mohinder, I'm calling to say that I'm going to hurt lots of people. And, um, what are you wearing?") And, here's Ted's upside-down bow. Ouch, poor Ted, even if I didn't like him. Nobody deserves that. :-/ And, y'know, I had suspected, way back when, that maybe dead!Isaac was actually dead!Ted and that Sylar was the bomb. So while I had some dead bodies mis-identified, well, Sylar really does have Ted's powers now. Do I get points for trying? (Cuz I wanted to save Mr Isaac.)

· Tangents during commercials:
1) Thank goodness Evil Eric Roberts is dead.
1b) Thank goodness Mr B did it.
1c) Mr B & Mohinder could be a great team.
2) Did Mohinder touch the door as he did before Mr B and Matt went in so that the audience would think maybe he had a power after all, especially juxtaposed with Molly calling him a hero like she did Matt? I'm still leaning towards Mohinder being Batman, myself -- awesome, but still an ordinary man.

· Hior's a very quick study! Which Mr Nakamura notes, which is yay. -- WHAT IS ANDO DOING OMGWTF NO ANDO NO. Hiro understands he has to cut out his "own heart" and and and that's ANDO and and. D:

· Oh, Peter. Yelling out the window? You dork. Oh, wait. Traffic jam. The truck. Riiiiight. So now Peter and Claire (on their wee roadtrip. Ha ha. Is that shippers squeeing?) know that Sylar's got Ted's ability.

· Audrey! Hi, Audrey! "You don't want to know."

· At least Peter isn't all "Oh I'm the bomb. WOE!"

· "Boo." ♥ -- Linderman set up their whole lives, and that's creepy. -- OK, Jessica. So, I called this, but how about $20 million to kill Linderman and walk away with DL and Micah? Huh? -- OH, did Niki just win? Jessica may have had better hair and was kind of badass, but Niki could so be badass in her own way and stuffs. !!!! DL WHAT. *breathes* OK. So they took care of Linderman. (Well, with this show, I guess one never really knows for sure, but how does one survive a hand in the head?) Yup, Niki won. And DL's all "You were the strong one!" and *sniff* I can't believe they're killing off DL!

· (Callous, I know, but I wonder if this is to set up what happened in the future -- Niki and Peter getting together. Because even though Claire and Peter have great chemistry, SHE'S A LITTLE GIRL. Ew.)

· And of course, Nathan keeps Heidi in the wheelchair for his acceptance speech. Gah, typical. On the other hand, I can sort of see why, not just because "people don't believe in miracles" but more "Oh, my poor handicapped wife! And now, all you who voted for me, look, she's not handicapped anymore!" Looks kinda shifty.

· And, oh, another beautiful montage scene over Nathan being all speechifying! He's good at speechifying. (There's only 5 minutes left D:) -- and this music that I love so frelling much. ♥ Oh amazing. (Hello, Nathan Petrelli's Politician Smile.)

· Uh, hello, sexyass Sylar with your new ability. "Boom."

· OH. So if Linderman's really dead -- that's an incredible power that's been lost, unless there are going to be powers that are duplicated, because it's still genetics, and there are lots of people with, say, blue eyes, or who are left handed, or whatever, in the world. HMM.

AND THAT'S IT TILL NEXT WEEK OMG IS IT NEXT PETRELLIDAY YET?

Mohinder was really channeling Sylar a couple times, like in the eyes and stuff. It was fan-freaky-tastic.

I have a cousin who eats like you. He's huge." "So am I."

I love that line. Because we don't know if Candace really looks like that or if that's just the front she puts forward so people will like her and respond well to her. It's like she carefully studied what passes for "unthreateningly attractive" and chose that. Oh, Candace. ♥

Okay, lannamichaels. I kinda sorta like Candace now that she's not a totally smirky bitch.

YAY!

(Awesomer when he's with Mohinder and all "Hi, Mohinder, I'm calling to say that I'm going to hurt lots of people. And, um, what are you wearing?")

This is just to say, you need to write that. ;)

Did Mohinder touch the door as he did before Mr B and Matt went in so that the audience would think maybe he had a power after all,

I don't think so. I'm sure he would have been on the list if Daddy Suresh had figured Mohinder for a power. And, also, he probably would have talked to his kid some if the kid was someone he was trying to track down.

I don't understand why Lind set up Jess/Niki and DL. The powers seem to be random. Why would he think those two together would get Super Duper Election Fixer?

Dude, I did not notice this at all. Will be interesting to watch for on my re-watch.

I don't think so. I'm sure he would have been on the list...

Well, that's what I was saying. I just don't understand the purpose of him doing that, unless it was TPTB trying to guide us into thinking... oh, I don't know. No idea. *G*

Also --

This is just to say, you need to write that. ;)

"Hello?"

"I can see the future, Mohinder. I know what's going to happen."

"I told you to stop calling me, Sylar."

"Then get caller ID."

"I'm hanging up now."

"No, wait."

Silence.

"Are you still there?"

More silence.

"I can hear you breathing."

A sigh. "What?"

"I'm going to hurt people, Mohinder."

"Yes, I know. We went over this the last dozen times you called me. You blame me for it, proclaim yourself some sort of god as of the last, what was it, four times? And then you hang up on me."

"Well, yes."

Silence.

"What are you wearing?"

Silence.

"I can still hear you breathing."

Then there was the dial tone. Next time. Oh, yes. Next time.

And he just broke Hiro's sweet, sweet heart. :(

Oh, when Hiro was crying out "Villain! Villain!", I wanted to sob. Nooooooooooooo.

Yay for Sulu!

So... were the Petrelli parents part of the Group?

Did Mohinder touch the door as he did before Mr B and Matt went in so that the audience would think maybe he had a power after all

Maybe he thought he'd be able to... tell if people were coming to attack, because the door would be vibrating? For a doctor, he's not the smartest of boys sometimes. (Luckily for him, he's pretty enough that we overlook his silly moments.)

DL = So... not so much with the Sylar-stealing-his-powers future?

Linderman = Hmmm. Can he heal his own brain? I suppose I'll see in the last ep?

Oh, when Hiro was crying out "Villain! Villain!", I wanted to sob. Nooooooooooooo.

Yeah, I know! It was one of those moments where I didn't cry, but I COULD have, wanted to, given the right circumstances like, say, really severe PMS.

So... were the Petrelli parents part of the Group?

Angela Petrelli has pretty well confirmed that, yes, she was. Mr P, probably. What we don't know for sure is who were the folks who "lost their way" from this group -- or if they just refer to each other that way. Mrs P wants the explosion to happen; Nakamura Sr doesn't, and they both refer to "others" as having lost their way, soooo.

(Luckily for him, he's pretty enough that we overlook his silly moments.)

For serious. So much with the booksmarts, so little with the streetsmarts.

DL = So... not so much with the Sylar-stealing-his-powers future?

Linderman = Hmmm. Can he heal his own brain? I suppose I'll see in the last ep?

La.

ALSO how can you have not watched it yet? I was beside myself waiting for the finale, seriously.

What we don't know for sure is who were the folks who "lost their way" from this group

I'd just chalk that up to perspective, because really, most people do like to shift the blame to the other party involved. Everyone wants to say that they stayed true to THEIR ideals, so it's easier to say the "other" people are the ones who didn't stay true.

But yeah... for Kring saying he's never read a comic, this gets more like X-Men with every episode. Because this is very much Professor X vs. Magneto.

Finale soon. I've been trying to be good and not overload on any one show. (Also, my family screwed up on some of the taping, so shows aren't necessarily where they should be. It's a surprise every time I put something in the VCR.)
