Oscar trivia, in case anybody still wondered

RotK is not the first movie to sweep its nominations like that. I don't know how many in total, but I know now that The Last Emperor took home nine awards of nine nominations in 1988. If there are others, I may or may not find them *g* I have a tendency of NOT finding this information when I look for it -- I just sort of stumble upon it.

Oh, yes, that I know. But I read several people on my flist questioning whether or not any other movie had completely swept the Oscars the way King did -- and, yes, The Last Emperor did.

Gigi tied with Last Emperor for nine, as well.

so along with ROTK, there have only been 3 movies to sweep their noms.

Well, technically there's four. There was one very strange incident where one movie was nominated for only Best Picture, and somehow won. I can't remember which movie right now.
