For "When You Love a Woman" (the first link), the footage of Aragorn/Arwen at 1:28? Yep, from ME. This vid was posted here on 10/26/03. HELLOOOOO anybody? POINT AND FUCKING LAUGH. I mean, this is ridiculous. And, um, at this point? I think it's just obvious which bits of Aragorn & Arwen footage in "Come What May" (the second link) is not hers. Oh, and that lower quality footage? Probably from very old vids of mine, from when I just had an illegal bootleg before the FotR EE was released. Possibly Primal Eyes, or Beautiful World, or... something.

Has anybody else used that quick shot of Aragorn and Arwen from the Two Towers trailer that was on the extended edition of Fellowship? That one of her smiling in his arms? That never made it into the movie? I don't think I've seen anybody use it but me.

I mean. She's been using my footage AFTER she got caught. And she didn't get caught for some vids, so hasn't done anything about them! Has she been paying ANY attention?

Yeah, honey. No. Stop using my footage ALTOGETHER and maybe we can talk. I've pointed out how to tell which LotR clips are mine. The colour of those black mattes. If they're a kind of light charcoal grey? They're mine. Stop using them. I mean it. And the Harry Potter clips? Try watching Devil Song and Book of Days.

Thank you for the sympathy. I need to rage about this here; is far better than throwing things that might break *g* I'm not sure what Desiree thinks she's doing.

I've added a link back to this post in mine (you might want to check the rocks link, something's odd with the URL). And I have to say I'm sorry you have to go through this but I'm not entirely surprised to see this entry this morning.

This sort of crap makes me absolutely furious! And the fanflix webmaster who is running the contest sounds like a spineless wimp who obviously has never dealt with the concept of clip theft before and hasn't managed to catch a clue even through all of this.

Right now, I really have no words. I look at your list of links, and I look at

elekdragon's page and I get so angry. I've seen and read about this stuff happening so many times, and I would shake my head; I would get angry at the thieves who refuse to acknowledge that they'd done something that my seven year old nephew knows isn't right. And it just keeps happening.

And the fact that she willingly overlooked the fact that at least two of her old vids (check this out -- I have to try to remember to send this link to

elekdragon) have used stolen footage. I refuse, absolutely refuse, to believe the fact that she doesn't know. And if it's honestly true that she was given all the footage by someone else? The fact that she didn't watch any of the vids that were shown to be the originals (despite the fact that mine were taken down very shortly afterwards) shows such irresponsibility that I could scream.

I don't get how she thinks she can get away with playing victim. I had the most immature, horrid thought about taking her vids and slapping them up on Drawn to the Rhythm after changing her title frames to my own and seeing how she liked that. But I'm a big girl, and I got over it. After about an hour *G*

And your vids. I love your vids. I've downloaded most of them - especially the aragorn/boromir vids. *Drool.* I think your vids are the main reason I fell in love with Sarah McLachlan. *Glowers at Desiree. Snarl.* You should unleash rabid plot bunnies to nibble upon her. >)

Good Grief, I can't believe this is still going on. I feel so sorry for all of you right now.

That this girl, the people hosting her vids, and everyone around her are so completely clueless about content theft / plagiarism and the proper way to handle it boggles my mind. Maybe she would benefit from reading the Sam Smith hullabaloo and realize that fans don't give up on things like this and that being a plagiarist can get you in trouble IRL too.

Everything about this is just boggling my mind. And these people keep saying "Well, YOU stole from the original creators" -- like I've said before, and I'll say it again, nobody thinks I'm Peter Jackson or Chris Columbus. If someone's seen the movie several times (as proper fans should have!), they'll know what I've changed and what I haven't, and I disclaim everything so that nobody thinks I'm passing off Jackson or Columbus' work as my own. In turn, we vidders deserve the same respect from others as we have been giving to the directors and editors of our source material. End of story.

Makes me wonder how she'd like it, if I took two of her vids, grabbed some music of my own, and slapped together a vid with my own title graphics and slapped it up on my website. I'm not this petty, but I've been seriously frelling tempted to do it. And make sure she knows. And if she gets pissed off? I'll tell her my friend gave me the footage *eg* But, like I said, I'm not this small or petty.

I am, however, rapidly running out of patience.

Wow, flashback. It's amazing how often that idiotic argument gets dragged out. I doubt they would make these claims about fanfic, so why is vidding treated so differently?

I can only think of a couple reasons why she'd be so desperate to have you delete/lock down that entry, and the one that keeps floating to the top is so that she's free to do it again.

Regardless of what happens, I'd suggest you keep that entry (and those attached to it) up as markers -- I wouldn't put it past this little girl to do it again. And again. And again.

And I still can't understand why she doesn't get it. My sympathies. I'm not a vidder, but if there's anything I can do, let me know.

I am not going to delete these entries. No way, no how. Even if it embarrasses her... well, that's just her problem, isn't it? It shouldn't be my responsibility to clean up after her, so I'm not taking that responsibility. As they say -- she made her bed, she gets to lie in it. I didn't have to be a bitch about this, but she's given me no other choice. And I want these up, and they're going to be linked on my website, and they're going to be an example for anybody else who wants to steal from me. I was willing to be a nice lady about this, but I've been given no other choice. I pour my heart into these vids.

And you know... if she needed the source, or she genuinely wanted to use some of my edits, all she needed to do was ask. I'm not a monster; I merely turn into one when provoked.

There is. You can write to webmaster@fanflix.com and tell him that his site supports plagiarism. Tell him you will be spreading this news far and wide until he takes down all the vids by Desiree and JAC Creations. Tell him that supporting thievery within a community is a *terrible* thing to do. Tell him that very soon, unless he acts accordingly, his name and the name of his website will be worthless and despised. Tell him you don't vid, and nothing has been stolen from you, and you *still* care. Tell him you're not alone.

Then go to Desiree's site. Post to her little insta-post thing in the left-hand column. Messages are limited to 85 letters, so be brief - and post often. Keep posting until she does what is right.

There's plenty you can do.

Just wanted to say thanks again for telling me about the Champions vid.

I posted my own summary of things at my LJ, just to try and keep this all straight.

I wonder if Desiree knows how many people she has against her now...

I think Desiree might have some idea, otherwise she wouldn't be so insistent on the deletion of the tracks of her mistakes. She only needed to own up at the beginning -- she's made this mess herself, and it's nobody else's responsibility to clean it up but her own.

If and when I have some time on my hands, I am going to be putting up a full summary of this on my vids site. What with college, though, it's been very difficult! Grr. Silly college.

Basically, so long as the links are up to Desiree's site, people keep posting there about her vidthefts, and Desiree keeps herself busy deleting them. I posted there this morning, and within hours my comments were gone. Naturally this is irritating for Desiree, but I vote we keep doing it until she finally:

1. Publicly admits and apologises for her clipthefts
2. Removes all vids with stolen clips
