The Big Blackout '03

I had this whole big entry to type up. Power flickered. It was lost. Power will probably do so again, so here's the brief brief version:

No power for 28 hours. Wasn't in Toronto at the time, so I wasn't trapped anywhere. Now there's a big-ass uber-thunderstorm outside. Going by this city's track record so far this year about keeping power running during very adverse weather, don't be surprised if I disappear again.

When I'm back next with clear weather, etc, I have 15 Equilibrium caps to post.

That's it.

Wow, welcome back. We were out for 26 hours here - never thought it would be possible that NYC would be dark for an entire day.

Crazy how wired we've become, isn't it??

It's good to be back! It was very strange to look out the window and not see any lights. It's remarkable just how bright vehicle headlights are! And my mom took me out to actually LOOK at stars, because you can't see anything with the city lit up as it usually is. Saw the Big Dipper, Mars, the Milky Way, some satellites and a shooting star. Never seen anything like it before. Makes me wonder why we've done this to ourselves, you know?

..I used to have a regular 'no electricity night', sometimes with friends, sometimes on my own. I still do it now and then. It's amazing what you can actually do without telly, music, phone, but candle light. it's a brilliant experience. But glad the power is back for most of my US friends.
