...uh, okay, I hadn't even heard the rumor :) Good to know.

Yeah, it seemed to come out of the blue this morning, as far as I'm concerned. Just saw a few people on my flist post it. Made me make a face like this: O_o

You're the first person on my flist to post about it, amazingly enough!

This is actually rather refreshing to hear!

I mean, LJ has been a twat these past 48 hours, no doubt, but my first thought wouldn't have been to blame it on OMGZ FANDOM PURGE!!1

[identity profile] ashinae.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I am so used to LJ being a twat that I barely even batted an eyelash. Ha!

[identity profile] sol-se.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I just saw something about it on my flist. They seemed very worried, but it just sounded a little alarmist to me. Especially since I've been having problems with my journal for a few days now and I don't have any of those key words. I figured it was normal technical bugs. Btw, what the heck is "chan"? Do I even want to know? I'm very curious now.

[identity profile] ashinae.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Terribly, terribly alarmist sky-is-falling stuff. I didn't believe it when I saw it; I am very used to LJ being wonky since I've had my journal for five years now (just double-checked that; my 5-year LJ birthday came and went on the 18th).

Also: "chan" is a manga/anime fandom word for underage fics/art.

[identity profile] sol-se.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, ok. The way they singled that word out, I was expecting it to mean something way out there. Five years? Wow. You're like a LJ veteran!

[identity profile] ashinae.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, an LJ veteran! Yeah, I've been around a long time; fannishly involved for 7 years, too. I remember the days of going through archives for fanfic, rather than comms, and talking to people on mailing lists, rather than journals. Of course, that didn't last very long before everything sort of migrated to the journal system, so it doesn't make me feel too terribly old. ;)

[identity profile] sol-se.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I remember doing all that too. I was just a very late-comer to LJ. I resisted it for a long time. I'm not sure why. Ah, the good old days of yahoo mailing lists & fanfic archives. Of course, someone's going to pop up any second now telling us all about the good old days of 'zine only fic and snail mail. *g*
