Strawberries
Garibaldi's triumphant voice finally sounds from inside the cabinet under the counter, where he's been rummaging for nearly ten minutes now. "I found it!"
Sprawled out on the couch, Sinclair sounds deeply amused when he says, "At long last."
The book Garibaldi carries over looks positively ancient. "It's been in my family for generations," he says. "It's completely full, though, so nobody's added to it in a really long time -- probably the last one's from my grandmother." He starts thumbing through it. "Or maybe…"
Propping one elbow up on the back of the couch and resting his chin on his fist, Sinclair merely smiles indulgently. "Your pizza's getting cold."
"Yeah, great," Garibaldi says, sounding distracted. He's searching through the pages -- carefully, so as not to damage anything -- and Sinclair catches glimpses of landscapes, old buildings, some people who most certainly look related to Garibaldi.
"Michael…" He most certainly wasn't invited to look at pictures, for God's sake. Slowly, he reaches out and lets his fingertips rest on the back of Garibaldi's neck. "Mike."
Garibaldi looks up. There's a look on Sinclair's face and, for a crazy minute, he's absolutely positive that Sinclair's going to pounce him. Or eat him. He's not sure which.
"Uh." He clears his throat a little. The fingertips are distracting. "Yeah, Jeff?"
"Aren't you hungry?" Sinclair's voice is positively dripping with honey now.
"Hungry?"
"Mmhmm."
Garibaldi almost drops the book. He's staring across at Sinclair now and, yep, the man's definitely about to eat him. Really, with all that pizza he ate, he shouldn't be at all hungry, and he hasn't even got to dessert yet, and -- oh. Mouth and teeth and the book slips down to the floor, because why in the hell did he go on that wild goose chase for this stupid old book anyway and Jeff's mouth.
When they pull apart, Garibaldi's just a little breathless. He stares at Sinclair, takes a deep breath, and could kick himself when he says, "I have strawberries."
"I like strawberries," Sinclair says -- No, that was a purr. He's purring at me! -- and any further thought flees from Garibaldi's mind when he's tugged close again.
"So, uh--"
"Mike."
"Yeah, Jeff?"
"No more talking."
"I can do that."
Sinclair chuckles, low and rich and in a way that seems to make Garibaldi vibrate with the depth of it, and then there's the teeth on his lip again. "Then stop. You ply me with expensive chocolates--" mouth, on his neck, "and pizza," and then his jaw, "an interesting choice, by the way…"
"Thanks." Garibaldi's squirming. Sinclair rests a hand on his thigh.
"And I think you have absolutely no reason to be nervous. I've never heard you talk so fast. Just relax. It's me. This is us."
Then that cheeky grin springs up on Garibaldi's face, and he says, as lightly as he can manage, "I've never seduced my commanding officer before."
"Go get those strawberries, and I'll let you."

You know, I can so see this and -- more importantly -- hear this. Jeff's voice. Oh. It's all that you described. And poor Michael, being all squirmy. ;) And the teeth. Ngh, I have a thing about biting and nibbling lips while kissing, so yeah, you definitely spoil me and I love it.
I just love the idea of these two because, you know, the past. Their history. The connection and everything. On one hand they're old friends, on the other hand Michael's working for Jeff, and there's the whole gratitude thing going on in the background due to Michael's problems with alcohol. But, uh, you knew that already. ;)
I love how Jeff calls Michael Mike. I love how he says, "It's me. This is us," because it makes me all squishy inside. And I love Michael's comment about never having seduced his commanding officer before, because it's something I can hear him saying. :D
*cuddles you close* You're ficlet's coming along too. I have no idea where it's going, but it's going to be too long to be a drabble. So a ficlet it is. :)

First: Does this mean I can call you my wife? ;)
I don't even know where to start with your comment; that was some fantabulous feedback. The big thing, of course, is that I'm happy you like it. So very, very happy. The most important thing, of course, is that you thought it was plausible and you could 'hear' them. That gives me shivers and happy thrills. I love writing dialogue more than anything else!
One of the biggest things I love about B5 is the relationships between the characters. There's so much going on with Garibaldi and Sinclair that I get shivers. That single line -- "More than you'll ever know", from War Without End. Lord. Such a tangled web between them, and considering JMS's take on sexuality and whatnot, I don't have any qualms whatsoever slashing these two. ;)
And I can't wait for the Lucius/Snape. *squirm* And, hey, no worries about it not being a drabble -- I was mostly being cheeky calling this a "quintuple drabble" as I did. But I did tweak to get it to just the 500 words.

(I don't have a B5 icon! How odd...)
Me neither, unless you count the pissed off Garibaldi as one. I just can't use it now because grr, free account and three icons. It should get better after I get money, though, since I might have a way to pay for the account after that. But anyway, yes, every fan should have a B5 icon. I think I might make some once I have the time.
First: Does this mean I can call you my wife? ;)
But of course... wife. :) Hee, I've never been married before, but it feels kinda nice. :D
The most important thing, of course, is that you thought it was plausible and you could 'hear' them.
Yup, I could, and I think that's probably because you know the source material. You have learned the characters and you... well, you know them.
I love writing dialogue more than anything else!
I never knew that, but yeah, I can relate to that. I love writing dialogue myself, even when I'm not always sure it's working. I just like channeling the characters, tell others what they want to say.
There's so much going on with Garibaldi and Sinclair that I get shivers.
I know! Back when I first saw B5, it was mid-S2 so Sinclair was very unfamiliar to me. It was only later that I got to see the earlier episodes and learn more about him. The connection between him and Garibaldi is something I learned to love. It's like they're married or something. Garibaldi seems closer to Sinclair than Catherine, and Catherine's supposed to be his fiancée. I love that connection between them.
That single line -- "More than you'll ever know", from War Without End. Lord.
Damn, now I get all shivery and it's all your fault. But yes. I know...
Such a tangled web between them, and considering JMS's take on sexuality and whatnot, I don't have any qualms whatsoever slashing these two. ;)
Hee, exactly. :) If Susan/Talia can be canon (which I think is great), then why not these two, as well? There's certainly something between them and, like you said, JMS seems like a guy who wouldn't be too shocked about this pairing.
And I can't wait for the Lucius/Snape. *squirm* And, hey, no worries about it not being a drabble
Good. :) It's already past a drabble-length several times, and I'm not even going to try and control its eventual length. I'm usually more comfortable with writing ficlets and fics than drabbles anyway. (Actually, one of the ficlets I've been writing (a fandom I've never written in) is currently 1600 words. Eh.) Plus, you deserve at least the 500 words you wrote me. So there. ;)

I'm glad you like it. I adore Sinclair/Garibaldi, desperately. One of my B5 OTPs, for sure.
