Politics, baby.
My polling station opens in 5 minutes. I am not at all ready to actually leave the house yet, but I am going to vote today.
I urge every Canadian reading this, to vote. You may think you're making a statement or something by not voting, thinking that it doesn't matter who you vote for, thinking you're sticking it to the system. Well, that's not true at all. It matters, and you're only "sticking it" to yourself and the rest of Canada. Vote. It is the wonderful thing about being in a democracy: you can vote. We have this right. Use it. Even if you vote for an independent, or vote for the Green party, just so the "big three" don't get your vote. It will take, what, twenty minutes of your life? Go and do it.
And, please -- if you don't want the Conservatives in power in Canada, but are pissed off at the Liberals so are casting your vote in favour of the NDP or Green Party (I vote Green), consider casting the ballot in the way of the Liberals anyway. Don't think of it as voting for them: you'll be voting against the Conservatives. Anyone who wouldn't vote for the Conservatives anyway knows that Canada does not need Stephen Harper running it. It is impossible to know to what extent they are just Stockwell Day's Alliance in shiny new packaging. Voting NDP or Green could still sway the balance of power in the Conservatives' direction. I will not vote Green this year because the Liberals are the only party that can keep the Conservatives out of parliament. Please consider this before you go to the polls. Yes, Canada has problems, and yes, the Liberals aren't the greatest (though anybody who believes that any politician isn't a thief or a liar or both, is likely kidding themselves) -- but they are the Devil we know. Some good can still be done. I'm not sure what the solution really is, but a right-wing government isn't it.
And on another note entirely, because something needs to make me giggle naughtily and help me forget that I am, in fact, pretty damn scared about today --
