Some summers we have so many of those little creatures it's unbearable to be outside, but this summer's been so dry that there's hardly been any. Only when we went to Eastern Finland. Which, yes, was horrible as they were constantly there, flying and biting and making that irritating noise. Gah. You so have my sympathies. :/
